So I'v been offered a job to teach Kindergarten in a school that I can't find anything about online! My recruiter says they have no website either!
When I was interviewed the 'major teacher' as he called himself asked would I be happy to teach both kindergarten and elementary. I said yes. When I received the amazing contract it didn't specify my hours. I asked my recruiter why this was, she then said that it was a kindergarten school only. Which was confusing enough.... but then SHE edited my contract and put my working hours in it. Is that normal?
The teacher also called his school the English Institute, while on my contract is says Jong-A AIS ENGLISH SCHOOL?!
I also asked for a teachers email address, which I have not yet received. I am due to sign the contract in 12 hours!!
I don't know what to do. I really want to get over to South Korea, but since I haven't found anything online about the school, or heard from a teacher. I'm unsure. My guy feeling was saying go for it, but now I'm disheartened.
Any help would be appreciated |

That seems to be the norm.

Yes, but the recruiter doesn't speak for the school

The words are used interchangably but institute means hagwon usually.

Follow your gut. People on here say to talk to other teachers but that is the ideal and even if you did, you do not know if they are giving you the straight story. How your time is in this country depends a lot upon you and how you treat the Korean people.
No matter how nice you are, however, there will always be those people, both foreign and native, who will treat you badly. You just have to learn how to deal with it properly, so you do not become disenchanted like so many have over the years. |

Thanks so much for your reply! The school is having financial difficulties so my recruiter said not to take it!
Thanks for your advice! |

Sounds like you have an honest recruiter. Who is your agency? |

Is it normal these days to not have a website?
