I happen to think it's not that bad a job. It's on the KTX line. It is a NATIONAL university. There are 11 weeks vacation. I think that even though it is not in Seoul, one could travel to Seoul weekly for about 40,000won return at 5 hours each way. Sounds alot but I travel to Seoul every weekend for 30,000won return and it takes 3 hours each way. But it is better than staying here all weekend. If one took the train you could do some nice reading or homework on the train.
Korea is a small country so in a place like Suncheon you are not really in the middle of nowhere as long as you have money, a phone and an attitude to get up and keep busy.
I think they will get a large number of applicants |

There are going to be loads and loads and loads of applicants for that (and every other) uni gig. I saw a uni job ad paying 1.37 million (w/ no mention of housing, so it may have not been included) per month in a very rural area. I applied, but didn't hear back.
I read a post about how a person with an MBA beat out 73 other applicants for a lowest tier uni position in the sticks. |

2.0 with what benefits?
How many hours per week?
How many weeks of paid vacation?
What is the value of this experience as in can it lead to better positions more easily?
There is often a heck of a lot more to a job than raw salary.... |

Sure, location and vacation. This is in the middle of nowhere. "Only 3 hours, one way, to Seoul!!!" And that's only because the KTX is in. Regular train is five hours. It also offers around half the vacation of many jobs, and requires working camps-with no mention of extra pay.
Don't get me wrong, the market is the market. I guess if they can get MATESOLs why wouldn't they? |
