When I came last year I signed a 1-year contract with LG. It ends this month and I want a new phone. I've been told I can't get a smart phone on a 1-year plan. So, I'm wondering if I can just find a used phone somewhere for 50-100k won and bring it into an LG office to use on my account.

Is this possible? Any other recommendations are welcome.

I just got my phone last week through LG. I used them last year as well.

I'm on a month to month plan because I only intend to be here 11 months. I got a flip phone free by agreeing to my plan. Here's the rates.

100 Minutes - 35,300
200 Minutes - 46,100
300 Minutes - 56,900

I also get 100 free texts. Additional texts are 20 won.

I don't call people that much thanks to my iPod. I can skype/viber call people for free over wifi.


My phone is an Oz Sky IM-U680L. I can watch tv on my flip phone.

Just curious why you only intend on being here for 11 months.
Won't you forfeit your entrance and exit allowance of 2.6, mil or so?
And, won't you forfeit end of contract bonus - 2.3, or so?

I'm actually considering the same thing for another job in
another country. Are we in the same boat?

Ok, so I inherited a PAY-AS-YOU-GO phone from a friend.
I use LG and go add credit about once/month. Maybe 20K.
I don't use the phone that much. Texting and getting calls
from people that I hang out with are short. I think I used
a total of 75 minutes the last 8 months.
