Well, this sucks. It's mid-August and my A/C just busted.
It still turns on, but it does not work. I have a Samsung BlueWind A/C unit mounted.
There are four lights. Usually, when the A/C is on, there is 1 light lit with green light. When I use the sleep timer, the other light turns on and it's orange in color.
However, starting yesterday I turned on my A/C and then all of the lights started flickering on and off ... i tried unplugging, same thing happened.
The light on the end is red and says, "teobo", (in Korean - teo then bo)but I don't know what that means.
Anyone know how I can fix this? Or why all my lights are flickering, and yet my a/c doesn't work?
I have a fan, but that does no good. |

What?
Yes, there are four lights. When I turn the A/C on via plug-in, because it won't go on with the remote or manually, the four lights flicker on and off constantly until I unplug it. |

You had better call a repair person. Sounds to me like your compressor burned out (or something else).
If you do have to get a new aircon, don't get roped into paying a lot more for one with "energy efficient" modes. Also, don't feel you need one that costs more for a fancier stand-up model because it blows out the sides. I did purchase one and have found this:
1. Blowing out the sides reduces the reach the air current has in your house, confining most air it blows to just one room. The old top-vent models concentrate the air better and will reach the next room easily.
2. The "blowing out the sides" models are also more noisy. Not only because the air faces more resistance from the sides, there are also more moving parts to rotate the fins around to distribute the air.
3. The energy efficient modes seem to be less adept at removing any humidity from the air. This, in effect, means the room becomes very humid in a short amount of time and doesn't really get cold.
Get one of the lower-priced models that blows out of the top. It would have cost me 40% less, and worked better. I have learned my lesson! |

Austin "There are four lights." is a reference to the Star Trek TNG
episode "Chain of Command." |

This.
My aircon broke last summer, and this was the case. It was a cheap fix. About 35,000-50,000 if I remember correctly. |
