Ok so I sent off all the stuff for my Korean Visa to the Consulate and they received everything this morning including the return fedex envelope.

I asked them if they could have it finished and mailed to me tomm because im suppose to be leaving on Saturday which means I need to get it Friday with my 2day return envelope I selected.

The lady then tells me they cant send it that way due to problems ect and that she needs to know my fedex account number or email her a scanned picture of the barcode or something.

Im confused and dont even know what she is talking about or why the envelope I put in there will not work.

Anyone know exactly what she was talking about and needs?

I ship stuff with FedEx all of the time, and you can select a box that has it held at the fedex center until the recipient (you) comes in and pays for it.

I've had a lot of people/companies seem confused by it, but FedEx has no problem with doing it.

This chick was telling me that she needed something other than the fedex return envelope that I included in the package.

And that she needed a scanned barcode or my fedex account number.

I went and made an account and emailed her the number. Im gonna call tomm around noon to make sure she has sent it off.

I am just perplexed at why she couldnt use the return fedex envelope......

I Am not sure what city your consulate is in but the one in Atlanta specifically says on their website that they cannot process Fedex envelops and to send them by other means. I hope you get your visa in time.

I was at the consulate in Atlanta shortly after it opened this morning. They weren't able to process the visa for same day pick up the the they could in years past. Their options were to come back in person the next day at 1 p.m. or to bring them back an express mail USPS envelope, the address form, and the $18.30 stamp. There's a FedEx location in the Hyatt in the center where the consulate is located, but the consulate preferred USPS, which is cheaper anyway.

What she means is that she won't send it to you.

Listen carefully - here is what you need to do.

Go to the FedEx website and create a FedEx account. You'll get a FedEx account number. Call the consulate FIRST THING when they open. Give them the account number, and MAKE SURE that they'll get it sent out THAT MORNING. If all goes well, you'll get it on Friday (cuz it's Thursday morning by the time you do all this.)

What YOU'VE done, if I gather this correctly, is simply included the pre-addressed envelope and expected to pay FedEx when it arrives, right?

Apparently, the consulates had trouble with this system - people not paying/FedEx wanting a deposit/people complaining the charge was too high, etc. I don't really know WHAT the problem was, other than they do not allow people to do that anymore. You have to use the FedEx account system.

Hopefully this explains it - the consulate should be pretty understanding about it and do their best to get it out that morning. You might want to shell out the extra cash for same day service, just to be safe.

Good luck.

Yeah, FedEx will want a deposit because if they ship it and then the receiver refuses, the consulate is on the hook for the dough.
