|
|
It's that time again, and I'm looking for a place to get tested. I looked through some old threads, but most of them seemed very out of date. I know about the international clinic in Itaewon, but that looks pretty expensive, and I've been spoiled by free STD testing back home. Are there cheaper options without sacrificing quality? And does anyone know if the Korean health insurance will cover half of the cost? Thanks! |

International Clinic in Iteawon. A laid back Kyopo doctor who speaks English without an accent. Confidential. On the main drag left of the Hamilton hotel. |

I've heard of that place, but I'm a bit hesitant to pay over 100k for an STD test if there are cheaper options. That just seems like a bit of a rip-off to me. |

You can always take your chances at a regular hospital/clinic. Just don't go to one near your school. |

not trying to be negative, but perhaps you should choose your partners a little better. Common sense and some restraint go a long way for your health |

I think you are being a little judgmental . You can't tell who has the clap from looking. He'd be just as likely to pick it up of that girl next door he met at church. The guy came on here he needs some help why not give it to him without passing judgment. |

It sounds like the OP just gets regular tests, not like he thinks he has something. Regular tests are better no? |

Alright, fair enough, maybe I misinterpreted the post. If he is saying its a yearly check-up then I retract my statement. Any clinic(not around your school area) should be fine. |

I also would like to know just for my health. HPV also has no signs when a woman has it. Yet a guy can develop wart like stuff up to years later. And seeing many women have it.....many guys have it and may never know.
I always hate people who say you're dirty or irresponsible because you want to test yourself. Only true idiots think a responsible act is irresponsible. But some people on here only know how to be negative. Trolls. |

+1.
If a person is active, then it makes sense to get tested regularly. Chlamydia can be symptomless in men. Condoms don't guarantee against HPV. Kudos to the OP. I'd recommend the international clinic in Itaewon too. Yeah it's expensive, but personally I reckon it's worth it. |

i get tested every six months, without fail, and have for several years. I think this is a very responsible thing to do and that everyone should do it, and that implying that someone is being "slutty" only encourages people to be ashamed and to not go get tested.
thanks to the others for your help. |

Here's the test:
Are you a virgin in every sense of the word? If yes, then you're fine. If no, get tested. You have a responsibility to the people in your life to *know* that you won't unintentionally hurt them. |

This.
I have no idea why anyone would give you crap for wanting to get tested OP. Too bad eslcafe doesn't require an IQ test. |

There are MANY STDs/STIs that are symptomless in men and women. There are also many strains of HPV of which only a few can cause cancer or genital warts.
I think the OP is very responsible and it amazes me how many people (korean or foreign) do not get tested. Also, many Korean women don't even see a gyno until they are pregnant! I'm not being judgmental, well maybe a little, but everyone should be checked out at least between partners or yearly. My mom is only alive today because she is religious about her check ups.
Any international clinic would be good. There is one in between Jongkak and Insadong that speaks English. I went there for my blood tests. You could also try university clinics since they usually run a little cheaper. Stay away from Yonsei Severence Hospital. They charged over 50,000 just for a damn doctor's signature to say that I am in decent health (which they just took my word for).
Samsung International Clinic (you will have to google it) is really nice. It is in Samsung Hospital, I don't know where in Seoul because I was very sick and only remember throwing up on the subway. The dr spoke perfect English, went to med school in Michigan, and was very understanding about costs. |

Either if you need it to check up on symptoms, or just want to have a routine screening, what you're doing is the right thing.
I only know about the Itaewon one, but my friend went there for a different treatment (blue pills ) and said it was good, and has gone back since.
Condoms don't have to break for you to get an STD. Sometimes skin on skin is all you need, even if someone is asymptomatic. Don't start judging the OP because he's being responsible. I had to do a lot of research at my old job, because I was creating an online database of resources for people with STDs. You'd be surprised at how many people don't know they have them until they're infertile and get checked years later. Cancer and warts aren't the only things you have to worry about.
Best of luck! |
