I don't understand this at all. He was fired because he announced he wanted to retire after this season? Is the owner of the team mentally handicapped? |

Well, he was fired from LG (before going to SK) for being "too boring". The owners wanted the team to play "fun" baseball that is more enjoyable for the fans. The coach, like he should, wanted the team to win. He won a few Korean Series with LG but then was fired for said reasons.
The fans rushed the field after the first game without him and burned all of their jerseys/flags. The fans said they will do it at every home game but who knows if this is true especially with increased security.
The assistant coach, who trained with the Boston Red Sox, was supposedly the reasoning behind everything. The rumor is he has been scheming for the job for the past couple of years. The fans brought up a news article quote that said he will be the coach before any of this even happened. He is now the interim coach until they, most likely, hire him for the official position.
He was the best coach Korea has ever had in their league. He will now go coach somewhere else and their loss. He will definitely find a new job. I am not a fan of SK (Doosan fan) but I respected him as a coach for all he has done. I wish him luck. |
