Why does the new visa discriminate against people older than 30's? I mean you get a lot of points if you are younger, but only a few if you are older. Doesn't that fly in the face of all things Korean? After all, Confucian societies generally reward old age/seniority, not punish it, right?

Or they could be looking for someone to contribute to society, have babies. Not someone who's going to grab up the visa and retire in a few years.

you'd typically be rewarded for being older by having more of the other points they'd desire. More education, better language skills, higher income, more social responsibility for having volunteered, etc.

Around 30 is the prime marrying age for Koreans.

this is not correct

I went to the immigration office to renew my visa a few days ago and the point system states that people 30-35 have the most points with people 25-30 and 35-40 just a little less

that sort of makes sense to me and doesnt really sound like discrimination

it's the same in Canada AFAIK

Check my post on age discrimination at NongHyup bank. Seems like hating on people over 30 here is becoming a real trend.
