I've been here a while, and while my options are substantially limited by being veggie, I haven't found any Korean food that I really like. There are some that I will eat, but none that I'd want to learn how to cook. |

I like just about all of it that doesn't involve that red spicy broth which is the base for so many soups and broths. It's sour and boring.
Anything Galbi related I just love!! |

Still like it for the most part, although I do get tired of it occasionally - especially with the lack of options in my town. Happily, I still occasionally come across tasty dishes I've not tried before. |

I almost cried when I first tried Korean food because it was so very good, really. And one of the main reasons I had to sign on for another year here is the food.
But I love spicy food, seafood, vegetables and salty stews. I can only imagine the spicy foods of Thailand, India and South America can top what I've had here. The food in Korea isn't extremely spicy but it gives the tingle some of us crave.
And I've always preferred boiled or grilled over greasy fried food, like in China, or raw food like in Japan. I am in the right place!
But I understand tastes differ. After all, not everybody back home used to order the scorching hot chicken wings.
Maybe the original poster is just one of those guys who used to order mild wings and wasn't a big fan of Hungarian salami or clam chowder. I suspect that only about half of ESLers really like the food here. |

I miss it a lot. That would be one of the biggest reasons I'd make a return visit. there are plenty of korean restaurants in the SF Bay area and other major urban areas, but they're way too expensive. I always think of what i'd be paying if i were in Korea.
Understand why people get tired of it though, not a huge variety of stuff. eating it twice a day for a year made me a bit weary of it, but 2nd year I ate it less (avg. 5-6 times a week)- solved the problem. |

I'm carnivorous so I get along with Korean food very well. |

I agree with a lot of Korean food, but I probably won't seek it out when I go back to Canada. I sometimes crave the pungent spices of Indian food and the delicate flavours of Thai cuisine. Korean food doesn't always taste fresh... A lot of it is fermented.
Korean food is good in its own way but definitely not the best out there. |

I just love the marinated meats that you grill at your table (except for that fatty sahm gyap sahl). I think they are great. The veggies and soups are another story. A big disappointment. And while I love spicy food, I find ko choo pretty boring. |

I'm not proud to admit that I don't care for the majority of korean food! It stinks! Bland and the same 'ol spices; always hot! Most at least. But I will admit to enjoying a few dishes. It seems that everything has to be spicy! Why screw up a perfectly good cabbage by mixing it with red pepper!! And those fish heads! I don't want to eat something that is looking back at me! Really though, some of the food smells bad... reaks, that I want to vomit at times. I'm not the only one! But some Hawaiian food does the same thing! So... |
