I've only been in Korea for 2.5 years and the bar has had three different names. It was in Sinchon, a fairly big bar located on the 5th floor of a bldg. It was popular with foreigners, mostly Korean language students.

If I remember correctly, once they started making money the building owners tried to "alter" the terms of their lease and started asking them to pay higher rent. Instead of caving in, they just boarded up the doors and told the landlords to GFT.

After a standoff they bailed and the landlords tried to reopen and operate, but without the outgoing foreign managers who really went out of their way to deliver a unique product, the bar turned into the same kind of hof/chicken shack that Sinchon is FLOODED with. I don't even know if it's still open.

This is an amalgam of second-hand stories I've heard from industry folk, so I can't say that this is 100% accurate but that seems to be the gist of it.

Some other guys in Gangnam "borrowed" the idea and opened up their own "London Pub" a few years back with the same theme, decor, and apparently half the gear from the Sinchon spot. Not sure if it's still open, either.

The Gangnam London Pub is still running but it's lame.
