|

So, what's the deal with Kimmi and having your documents on file now? I recently went to Immigration because I renewed my passport and I remember them sending me a letter saying if they had my apostilled/verified CBC and degree on file I wouldn't have to provide a new one each year. So I tried to confirm this with the Immigration officer by asking her if I needed to submit a new set of documents if I were to change jobs and much to my shock and amazement she said I didn't have to provide new documents?!?! So flabbergasted, I started thinking about it and this question came up. If I need a new visa do I still need to get a new CBC and have my degree notarized/verified by the Korean Consulate in Toronto. I'm Canadian by the way. Or can I just transfer my visa to my new school. The letter I received said that if you do not go home for more than 3 months you don't need to get a new CBC. I'm confused. Does Korean Immigration not need it but in order for me to get a new visa I do need it? Meaning I'll still have to get it just not show it to Kimmi. Or... Am I off the hook and I don't have to get any new documents?!?!
Clarification would be appreciated. |

The new rule seems to be that if you do not leave Korea for more than 3 months then you will NOT need a new set of documents for the visa. Everything else involved in the application process will likely still apply.
I forget the exact rules but in order to transfer you only have X amount of days after your visa/ARC ends and the process must be done before the expiration date for that visa. |

Very strange. I went through hell to get my CBC.
I left SK for just over a month. K consulate in the
states never ask for it. Got my entry visa.
Kimmi here in Seoul never asked for it. Got my ARC.
So, it seems that the 3 month rule does apply.
No worries. |
