I've been in Seoul for about 2 weeks now staying at a friends place and it's time to move out. I've looked through various sites to find places (wimdu, craiglist, etc) but its been taking a while for them to contact me. Money is tight and I'm looking for a place to stay for under 1milwon/month with NO big down payment and also decent sized room for me and my younger brother to share. A decent sized 1 bedroom apartment is fine.

Are there any other websites/methods to find temporary housing in Seoul? Also, I don't expect to find a decent place in the center of Seoul so what are other areas that are affordable, clean, and less than a 40 minute commute to lets say Gangnam area? Thanks to all replies!

look for a goshiwon or a month-by-month rental place. only problem is the rooms are normally small so you can't have many things and there would be no way you and your brother could comfortably fit in one of them so you'd have to get two.

Goshiwon!

You probably won't find one to share (possible, some have bigger rooms on the roof but not likely) but on the other hand, you could get 2 for less than 1M, so you'll have separate bedrooms.

Yes, they're small. But quite affordable, and possibly IN Seoul. I HIGHLY advise that you look at many of them. Pictures from websites are from when the place was brand new.

They ARE small. I can't emphasize this enough. But if you're just using it for sleeping/showering/changing, you'll hardly notice. You can find some nice ones if you look hard.

If you guys don't mind sharing a place with some other people you should be fine. Check the room shares on craigslist.
