|

Hey guys, me and a friend were thinking of visiting China for a few days over Chuseok. Someone else I know had mentioned, however, that Chuseok might not be a good time to visit since it's such a big important holiday there.
Has anyone ever spent time in China during Chuseok? Can you still get public transportation/taxis? Are restaurants/clubs/tourist attractions still open?
If it matters, we'd planned on going to Beijing and wanted to see the Great Wall.
Thanks for any info! |

Yes, you can still get public transportation (most of it will be packed like sardines) and all of the tourist attractions are still open (hard to close the great wall ).

I just got back from China and I will say book any train tickets you can as early as possible.
The ques that accumulate in that country are INSANE and as a foreigner you'll have to wait in line to buy a ticket from the counter since the machines are only for Chinese nationals.
This is for high speed rail. If you're willing to stand for 8 hours on a "slow-train" you probably will be able to get tickets.

My girlfriend and I went to China last February, during Lunar New Year. We tried purchasing train tickets ahead of time, but the response was- they don't sell tickets during the New Year because so many people need them. They just sell them the day of.
It might be the same in September, but I really don't know. |
