Hi all - looking at buying an e-reader device for my girlfriend after seeing a kindle on a plane - it looked thin, light, and sexy, like something she'd actually want to use. No need for a tablet as we have a Galaxy tab already and she says looking at it for long periods of time hurts her eyes.
That said, I dropped by Kyobo today and their new E-reader, the Kyobo reader w/ Mirasol display, didn't look very impressive. Small screen, big bulky border, didn't look like it had a very high resolution, and somewhat glare-prone - they weren't selling any others either. Plus it was close to 300,000 won.
So - what's the best one to get now? Danawa.com shows a Kindle DX for 250,000 and a Kindle 2 for 150,000..but can she access Korean e-book libraries with these? Are the 2nd-tier brand readers any good?
Any input is appreciated! |

I have a Kindle and love it. I seem to read books faster with it and since it's a device mostly for reading books, I dont goof around and play games or check websites on it like I would if I had a tablet.
Regarding Korean books, I've heard complaints that the Korean font on the Kindle is really annoying and makes reading very unpleasant. I guess to a Korean reading it, the font resembles some kind of goofy, cartoon font.
Before I purchased a Kindle I would make sure that this issue has been fixed. |

Isn't the base model of Kindle that came out with the new Kindle Fire now down to less than $100 US? I have a Sony e-reader and use my iPad's Kindle app as well. |

Get one with e-ink. If it hurts her eyes to look at a tablet, she would much rather have something with e-ink.
I hear good things about Kindle (though I don't like that they won't support epub formats), and I have a Kobo (got it as a gift).
Have to say, my Kobo had problems twice in 6 months and had to be replaced each time -- the second time being the bigger pain in the arse because the first time they sent the new one to Korea and the second time they wouldn't. I like it, but because of the problems I probably wouldn't buy a new one.
But you definitely want one with e-ink. |

Got my Kindle Touch this week. Love it. Regarding file formats, you can use a program like calibre to convert, organize, and manage all your ebook files. |
