|
|
Okay, my friend who has a job lined up in Shanghai found out he CANNOT get a china torusit visa from korea with less than 30 days on his arc. Absolutley no go.
He was advised to extend his ARC at Korean immi.
Do you have any idea how he can do this? Don't you have to have an outbound flight, which is impossible as he can't get the visa etc...
If he just explains his situation will they just be like 'ok we'll give you enough time on your arc so that you can get you China tourist visa.' He has been there for 6 years and hasn't left for over 3 months etc in that time.
Might showing his contract for his job in Shanghai help?
Anyone know? |

Can't / won't happen.
Enter China via Hong Kong. These problems disappear.

Usually they let you extend your sojourn if you have a flight out of Korea.
However, he can't get flight as can't get visa. A raunchy little catch 22 there....
Or can he buy a flight to China regardless of whether he can get the visa or not? Then show tickiet, get extension, then get visa...
Might immigration give him an extension if he shows them his employment contract for China in October and explain why he can't get a ticket yet...?
China via HK will cost him a few 100K in Won extra and a cpl days extra time. Not the end of the world, but still, if it can be helped.... |

I'm not sure if this helps in relation to your friend's predicament, but when I went to the Suwon immigration office in June to extend my ARC by a month to accomodate my contract extension, I brought with me my school's business license and new contract. No flight information needed--actually, at the time, I don't even think my boss had booked my flight home yet. Maybe his boss can be of some help to him? |
