I still break out sometimes with pimples. Is it really that bad for my skin if I pop them? I get a few on my face but also my back as well. Can't get those so my gf helps out.
Is this unhealthy? |

It's better to not pop them, but you're not doing any long term damage by getting rid of them. Buy some tea tree oil from Body Shop and use that to stop the bacteria from spreading after you pop them. |

Isn't apple cider vinegar supposed to balance the pH in your skin if you wash with it, getting rid of pimples and causing a healthy glow? |

I doubt there's any "one size fits all" for skin care. Try and find what works for you and go with it. It's better not to pop zits because you bruise the skin and the area the pus was in is left to fester some more, usually resulting in a redder, bigger blemish (sans whitehead). What's best is to just lance them with a sewing needle and then let them drain naturally. Before a shower is probably the best time to do it because the skin opens up from the hot water and lets clean water in easier to clean them out. When it comes to skin, the hard-nosed approach doesn't work. You have to be gentle.
And I'm not sure if Triban is trolling (he seems to always be) but apple cider vinegar is sorta basic so it won't balance pH. |

Apple cider vinegar is actually an acetic acid. Cheers.
Also, here is a detailed website tauting the benefits of apple cider vinegar in relation to skin care. It even talks about the pH balance.

Actually you can do long term damage...usually these are the little craters that only the most serve acne suffers have for the rest of their lives...most are lucky not to get these severe scars
it depends on the size but popping is NEVER a good thing...its better to put some higher strength medication on the area and it will naturally take its course
you should really learn what your body best reacts to, i have light acne with only an occasional huge zit only rarely since i'm an adult now and hormones aren't raging
i know my skin, i have sensitive to mild skin, i never use any product with oil, and if i touch my face, usually will get a pimple in that area
you have to learn what type of skin you have...its not that hard...look on the back of a product, does it have benzoyl peroxide (mostly in clearsil, oxy, and other teenage stuff) or salicylic acid as its main ingredient
i only use salicylic acid since for most skin benzoyl peroxide is basically ripping the skin layer and helps at first, but causes break outs later and starts a cycle of bad skin
you really have to find what works for you and in what amount...try Proactiv, its not bad but some of their stuff does, peel the skin as B.P. does so gotta be careful
if you can afford it, see a Dermatologist, they really can help A LOT, my dermo recommended Tazorac and that drug is a miracle worker...if i can't afford it, i use oil-free wash like Cetaphil which is great for sensitive skin to oily skin, and use a salicylic acid Lotion skipping any harsh astringents
lastly, don't wash your face like you see in those movies where they scrub their face (this actually causes more break outs because you are irritating the skin)...you should basically touch the surface of the skin with your fingertips (this takes some getting used to) and only splash water on the face to rinse
best of luck to you and once you find out what skin type you are, it makes life a lot easier |
