So, I was wondering about how big are Korean apartments in square footage, just on average?

Also, Do you hang stuff up, like on the walls in your apartment? I am bringing my exotic cat with me and was thinking of adding like "shelves" and "ramps" for it to walk on, on the walls. I just don't know if they will allow that. I will obviously repair the holes before I leave the apartment.

Thanks....

Korean apartments are measured in pyeongs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyeong

In Seoul I had an 8-10 pyeong studio. I live in the country now so I have a 3 bedroom apartment in a 4-plex apartment(huge).

I highly suggest you have the apartment situation figured out before you just show up with a cat.

Korean apartments are measured in square meters. The pyeong measurement hasn't been used for over a year now and it is actually illegal for a real estate agent to advertise the size in pyeong.

As for the cat, just use double sided tape. You can stick it on the wall and take it down later. A bit of steam should get the tape of its fur.

Thats seems strange. about 6 weeks ago was in the process of searching for new apartments and every real estate place advertised in pyeong. Now, even though the law changed I have discovered that many laws here are definitely not enforced. e.g. riding motor bikes on the side walk is probably a classic example. And so I believe it is with the pyeong/square meter measurement.

Yeah, depending on the city/town you are in and your school/hagwon will determine the size and type of apartment you get. Don't bank on a new big place in any of the major cities in Korea. In the country side you might get a big place but likely that the apartment complex may be quite old and run down.

Kind of odd since we have been shopping for a new place in Busan and all the adverts are in pyeong....
