Hi everyone!
Well, if you've been following the mysterious case of Andre M. Fisher, you'll know that he's currently in prison in south Gyeonggi Do.
Mods will recognise that previous threads were set up to enquire about or to share specific points of information at those times. Some have turned into discussions as to whether he should be in prison or not. That's fine. Please keep such discussion on those other threads.
This thread is to seek those who are willing to support Andre while in 'Seoul Detention Center.' There are two main ways you might do this:
by visiting him there and chatting with him for the maximum daily 15 minutes, and,
by sending him reading or writing material. He is most interested in sports. He would probably be glad of anything of good quality and easy to read.
Anyone interested in supporting Andre and on facebook can join the group named 'Andre Fisher in Korea'.
It's worth letting us know on the facebook group as to when you're likely to visit as he is only allowed one visit per day. If someone else can go on the same day, then they have the option of contacting you and arranging to go together at the same time, or planning for another day.
Similarly, he has been sent two recent issues of his favourite magazine, and the issue dates have been listed on the group page. Anyone else can therefore avoid doubling up, and notify others if they have other issues to share with him.
If you are not on facebook but would like to support Andre in either or both of these or any other ways, please PM me and i'd be quite happy to relay your information, or help in any other way.
Thanks for your interest and positive attitude.
Regards,
j.w.

The man's not being abandoned to life la Midnight Express. He's in jail and rightly so by all credible reports. He's also being provided, by US law, regular visitation from the US military authorities. That visitation also includes provision of foodstuffs from the military. Additionally, he'll serve his sentence in the foreigner's prison. Seems to me he's getting quite a lot of support.
His family's campaign is unrealistic and evidently an intentional ignorance of the facts pertaining to his situation.
There's no mystery here. |

Give it a rest already, man. There are soooooo many threads on this case, and the majority of them have been started by you.
There's no need for it.
If people are interested in the case, and helping out, they can chime in on the threads that exist. |

CC: You misspelled all.
OP: Seriously, why this case? Why this person for your activism? I can understand agitating for more humane treatment for prisoners. That is, of course, laudable.
This case, however, is not a mystery. Fisher and his family lack credibility due to their own words and actions. As with any judicial system anywhere, I have no doubt that there are some innocent people incarcerated in Korea. Fisher is not one of those people.
Do you care to tell us why you are so concerned with this case in particular? |
