|

I sent in my last document last week and it got there Monday, the director emailed me that she applied for my visa number and that all of my documents were in order so it should take 1 to 2 weeks then i have to go to my Korean consulate. From other expeiences am I home free with a job or do i still have to look? I have been talking to recruiters still just in case and have dupes of everything as well. Does the visa number process cost the school anything? |

Nothing is final. You have too many unknowns. Who is this director? Recruiter? School? Which school? Public or hagwon? After you get documents, you have an interview. Then, you have to fly to Korea. Do you have a ticket? Is the school paying for this? DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS. What is your situation? |

Ok, not final is good enough. Have you been spurned at the last minute? No ticket yet, was told not to buy one until I received the visa number. No recruiter, have been dealing with the director and she seems to be up front and honest, I have spoken with the other two english teachers there. One has been there 3 years and the other is resigning at the end of her contract, so it seems on the up and up. Is that enough detail for you to make a sound opinion? |

I wouldn't pay for a ticket up front, but I guess some jobs request that. |

I can see why i shouldnt buy a ticket. The director told me not to until I recieved the visa number, should I wait until I get my passport back from the consulate? I was more concerned with the school jerking me around but from what i gather its the consulate I have to worry about. |

Do NOT buy your ticket until you have your visa in your passport.
Any delay would end up with you back here posting something like, "Flight tomorrow and no visa yet, what can I do?"
If your employer has your documents you are pretty much assured of a job (although nothing is 100%).
The employer will apply for a visa confirmation number from immigration.
This takes about 4-10 working days and there is no cost.
After they get the number from immigration, they send it to you.
You then go to your local Korean consulate and get your visa placed into your passport.
THEN you buy a ticket and fly to Korea.
