Hi everyone.

I have sent in my docs (background check and diploma, both notarized and apostilled) to a recruiter and have received an e2.

Since then, things have changed and I have backed out but want to get my papers back from the recruiter/whoever has it now. I have emailed the recruiter and been told that this is not possible, I guess that is believable. Is this true, or just another lie being fed to me by this recruiter?

Thanks for the help in advance.

If you applied for and received a visa then your recruiter is telling you the truth. Once you give those documents to Korean immigration they will not give them back.
