|
|
I've read in threads that Korean interviewers will ask about your marital status. I've also seen a few posters list marital status as something they put on their resume.
I was wondering what people here think. Should marital status go on your resume (for Korean teaching jobs ), or should you leave it off and just wait for the interview question?
Thanks. |

Everything else has to be on your resume here. You're hired by your picture, anyway.
Yes, maybe not EVERY place hires by the picture, but it's got to be a high percentage. |

Would it be a pro or con if you are married when applying for jobs in Korea? |

A Korean veteran may have a different answer, but I'm betting married is a con if you're a woman because the employer will be afraid you'll quit to start popping out babies. Of course, how long do most hagwon employees stick around anyway?
I'm just wondering if it looks silly to put it up-front on the resume. In the US, if you put your marital status on the resume, in my opinion, it would look unprofessional. |

Marital status on a Resume or CV is reasonably common in the world.
What makes Korea interesting is the occasional practice of putting blood type on the resume -- or so I've heard. Can anyone confirm this? |

Koreans put a lot of things on their resumes that would be unthinkable in the west. Marital status, blood type, religion, etc.
But being a foreigner you really don't need to worry about it. Anyone hiring foreign English teachers will be used to seeing western style resumes. If they care about your marital status they will ask. |

Yeah, I've gotten the blood type thing. Apparently that's what some people feel determines your personality. A bit like astrology. |
