So I am looking to return to Korea but this time as a couple, I have heard horror stories though mostly I don't believe them.
Has anyone got much experience as an unmarried couple trying to find a job in the same school and/or staying in the same house?

Unmarried - what visa will she have?
She WON'T get an F3 (dependent family).
If she is on an E2 as well then no worry.
Public schools require a copy of the wedding cert if they are aware you will bring someone with you to share the apartment.
Hagwans don't care.

Is it worth telling them that we'll be living together or should we just find 2 jobs and get 1 apartment and one job with housing allowance?
Or fake a marriage cert? |

 Go ahead and fake a marriage certificate. You might be surprised to find out that there's no such thing as a co-ed prison here. Document fraud in connection with visas is taken extremely seriously by the South Korean authorities. Be sure to let us know, after you're deported to your home country upon completion of your custodial sentence, how that went.
A public school will not provide one apartment for an unmarried "couple". They will provide, however, accommodations for each NET they hire. If you decide to have someone shacking up with you in the school-provided apartment, the landlord and/or the school can make a big deal out of it. One reason can be because only those listed on the lease are supposed to be resident there. Another reason can be the "morality clause" in your contract. Yes, I know that other people, even Korean teachers, shack up. That's not the issue and it will not be a defense if either the landlord or the school makes a big deal of you doing it.
If you're going the hagweon route, then, depending on your boss, you can get one apartment to be shared by you and your co-habitant.
Either public school or hagweon is unlikely to pay two housing allowances for the same abode, though. You might get lucky.
Next you have to worry about actually renting a place on your own. You'll need a ton of money for the key money.

No problem you can teach in Korea. You do not even have to teach at the same school as long as the schools are in the same part of the city you get placed in.
As for the living together, you will need to tell one of your employer (the one whose employment provided accomodations you will be using) as there may be some issues with occupancy (how many people are supposed top live in the appartment).
There is not reason your employer should balk at you having a roomate. |

I'm pretty sure the girl would also freak at the idea so best to be avoided. |
