| is there an official list somewhere online of countries that require visas before entry and those that issue a visa directly at the point of entry? or do i have to just individually check every country on the embassy page? i'm american, btw. |

| Off the top of my head I know Russia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, China, India, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Sudan for American citizens. There must be more but that's all I know of. Most of Europe and Latin America don't require it. |

It is actually the timatic database; the same one the airline's use for checking that you are OK to travel (visa wise) before they issue a boarding pass.

OP: have a great time in Finland! No visa is necessary for you, as you are American. Finland is part of the visa wavier program. Don't miss the Fisch Schlappe!

There are no tourist visas for Saudi Arabia, only religious pilgrimage types and work/business visas.
Brazil and Belarus are two more I can think of. |
