Curious, I will be traveling to Korea I usually bring vitamins from Costco, i.e. Centrum Silver and generic Glucosimine which is favored for the elderly but do they have this at discounted prices at Costco korea? What about coffee? I don't want to carry it over if it's available there and just as cheap. Tx

Yes, Costco has a variety of vitamins and coffee. Is there anything else you would need that Costco may have?

(Good questions, by the way- better than asking if there are any bars or alcohol available in Korea).

This site

http://www.ezshopkorea.com/shop/step_submain.php?b_code=B20070628030149

will show you most of the vitamins available at Costco. However, each store is a bit different and you may find something in one that you won't find in another.

Also, the prices on this website are SUPER inflated! The prices are significantly lower in Costco!

The vitamins will be basically the same except they will be substantially more expensive than at Costco in the U.S. If you've got space in your bags for them, I'd save the money and buy them in the U.S.

It depends on which vitamins you need. Costco in Korea has the basic vitamins but if you need advanced supplements you may have to bring them.

As for what to bring? Ibuprofen, deodorant, and shaving cream are very expensive in Korea.

Costco has most things you will need to stock up on. Local supermarkets are good for milk, eggs, yogurt, some vegetables, etc. But it is still catering to Koreans. No underarm deodorant, Axe shower gel, or anything like that. If you're picky about brands bring some with you. Not sure where you will live. If you're not in an area with a Costco, you'll prob trek there every 4 to 6 weeks. Once you really get settled in, you'll prob trek to Seoul once or twice a year to the underground markets to stock up on those things I just mentioned. Namdeumun Market and Itaewon will let you get other things you need / want that Costco or your local mart doesn't have. It'll take you a while to get things figured out, so bring what you need, in the meantime.

PS Korean condoms are lame; bring your own!

Oh yeah, bring some advil or tylenol. Think their version is weaker than ours. Bring enough for a year. Jumbo size. Korea gets cold in the winter, go to your local outdoors store and get some POLERTEK or THINSULATE gloves, long underwear, and boots. Jackets you can get here. But in my humble opinion, the Korean version of other things really suck and don't keep out the cold. Also, bring some warm fleece slippers to put on your feet. (Better if it has a tread to wear outdoors too.) Public schools will expect you to wear thin ones where your toes freeze in winter. My first two winters here really pissed me off until I took a trip back home and stocked up. Now I go hike mountains with the warmest of confidence in winter. Ha ha.
