I'm taking a Korean course with tons of homework. If I sit at home, I'll just surf on Dave's ESL. I tried going to the school library, but I'm not allowing in until my ID get's updated in a couple of weeks. Going to the school library means needing to eat some bad school for lunch in a super crowded cafeteria too. I much prefer to come home, eat something, then study.
Anyone know some nice places (kind of quiet, not too crowded) to sit and study? Preferably near Hongdae, or anywhere nearby. I am thinking something like the big Seoul Station food court (big, lot's of tables, lot of people sitting around). I have never been able to sit in a coffee shop for a couple of hours. I don't know why, something just starts to nag at me sitting in a coffee shop, like I should just finish my coffee and go. But if there is a coffee shop with lots of free tables and other people just sitting around for hours (like a study coffee shop?) that could work.
Anyway, know any nice places to get out of the apartment and study undisturbed for a couple of hours?
Thanks,

Caffe Bene?

I've gone to Cheonggyecheon a few times when I've had time on my own and sat under one of the bridges and read a book, it's pretty peaceful and it's got a nice ambience especially when the weather is warmer... but I guess if you'll be taking notes and stuff it's not such a good location.

You don't say where you are, but if you're in the Shinchon area, Min-deul-le Yang-to (sorry, this computer can't type hangeul) is exactly that. It's a bit on the fru-fru side, but it's really popular with study groups of Korean college kids. The basic fee (W5000 IIRC) gets you bottomless coffee, tea, and soda, and I think you can even get ramen included.

I study at Sogang, and live in Honddae.
I'll try that "Min-deul-le Yang-to" in Sinchon. Would that be "민들리 양투"? Is that how to spell it? I'll try to search on the internet. I could eat a nice lunch at Sinchon and do my workbook there.

Sometimes I go study vocab at Cheonggyecheon or by the river, those are also nice places.

There's a nice little book cafe near Hapjeong station that I like to study at. It's well set up with plugs, wifi, pencils, paper and a huge collection of books (mostly humanities and social sciences stuff). I tended to go in the morning when it first opened at 10am so it was really quiet but it could get slightly noisy around lunchtime with all the office workers, but still not nearly as noisy as a Starbucks or Caffe Benne. Coffee is slightly expensive at 4,000 (IIRC) but you get free refills.

The name of the cafe is Humanitas.

Directions:
From exit 5 of Hapjeong, turn right off the main road at the corner with the big bike store. Walk down the hill and follow the road. The cafe is about 100 yards down the street on the right. It's set in from the road in a house with a small car park in front.

Go out Sogang Front Gate and turn left. Continue on past high mart and cross the street to the Tous Les Jours bakery, going towards Daeheung station. Just past Tous Les Jours, you should see a gallery/cafe called Som/Island.

It is a "book cafe" and has tables set up library style with little desk lights, and kind of a nice atmosphere.

It's 민들레 양토. There are two near Shinchon station, the bigger one is the one you want.

Book Cafe Toy in Hapjeong/Hongdae. If you know where the Sang Sang Madang is, it's just around the corner from there.

It's somewhere down that street on the third floor of a Italian place.

I just bought a monthly membership. 60K gets you unlimited Americanos/Green Teas. If you want to upgrade to another drink you have to pay 2K. Just can't use it on the weekends between 2 and 7.

Super quiet and lots of desk space and some outdoor seats as well if you are a smoker.
