I just moved into a rather old building and it has pretty lousy internet. I get about 10Mb/s down and 0.9Mb/s up within Korea. Connecting to the U.S., I get <1Mb/s, down and up. In other words, it's really slow. My ISP is listed as "Korea Cable Television Suwon Broadcating Co." (sic) which I'm guessing is some local cable company.

Has anyone here switched to KT? What are the prices like? Also, how can I know if my building has a fiber connection?

Once when living in an older building, I tried to get the internet hooked up (had nothing)

They came, messed around for a while and left.. Later it was translated to me that it was "too difficult" and I never got it installed

Older Korean buildings have no internal wiring, other than electricity.

If you want internet, they will run a fiber line directly from the nearest utility pole, drill a hole into your room, and run the line through like that.

If the utility pole is too far away, or it is humanly impossible (unless you are spiderman) to run the line/drill a hole, then they can't do it.

I got KT FTTH installed. My building is quite old, but they simply pulled the wire through a hole in the window, so as the previous poster mentioned, it just depends on your local utility poles.

As I had someone fix everything for me I don't even remember the cost, but I think it was around 30.000 a month. However, I' should mention that I'm very happy with the connection. It's a day and night difference between this and what I used to have.
