Hi everyone familiar with the area.

From what I can gather, Bundang seems to have a fair bit going for it from Seohyeon down to Ori.

What are those northern parts of Bundang like, and the rest of Seongnam even?

Also, how's that Pangyo development going?

I may be heading that way soon, so was just hoping to find out a bit more about it.

Cheers.

Imae and Yatap are within 10 minutes of Seohyun so there is no significant difference. In fact, we often popped up to Yatap for shopping rather than do it at Seohyun. Saved a couple hundred K per month on the grocery bill.

Pangyo is built and people are moving in faster than you can blink. Seohyun part 3.

Again, depending on where you are in Pangyo, it is only a few minutes to Seohyun.

Can't tell you much about north of Moran station. Never really explored up that way. Never had to.

I was going to post about Taepyeong-dong, near Taepyeong Station, but then I realized it was four-and-a-half years since I was there. Could be a whole new city by now. But it had a really neat older feel in the market, set on a few hills, a nice alternative to the staleness you'll notice around Bundang.

I lived in the area around sinheung station for a year. It's a hilly area of town with lots of good restaurants and a few ok bars but not much going on really. It's undergone major development in the past few years I think which is a pity as I liked its rough sort of character beforehand. Further north brings you to dandaeogeori which has nothing going on and further north again brings you to namhansanseong park which I assume you've checked out by now??? It's got some nice walks

I was in Pangyo today. Still lots of empty places. Office tels are nice and usually conveniently located, but choosing somewhere a little off the main lines will be quieter.

One thing about Pangyo is (at least the part right off the main road from Seohyeon) that you can catch an express bus and there isn't a stop until Yeoksam or Kangnam.

I live in Yatap and work in Imae. I like the Yatap area. I lived in Ori last year as well and find Yatap a lot more exciting and grungy at times but my girlfriend and I live on the love motel side of the main street. It's only 2 stops from Seohyeon if you need high end shopping and some expat bars or Indian food. Yatap also has a bus terminal that'll get you to most major corners of the country. I

I don't know a lot of stuff around Imae station but it seems very residential. I haven't ventured out further than 10 minutes from the subway. Nothing stuck out as interesting.

Bundang south of Moran is pretty nice for the most part. Our hagwon has talked about opening another branch in Pangyo but every time we go by it it still looks like it's in some weird half birthed stage of development. Frankly, from afar it looks like a ghost town but it could be nice for all I know.

Well, I've been living in Pangyo for a year now. The above poster is correct. It's still pretty much a ghost town. Still basically no shops or restaurants. The schools are open though. No doubt hagwons will start opening this year. Everyone expects Pangyo to really take off this year.

Seongnam city north of Yatap (where I lived for a year in 2000) is a world away from Seongnam south of Yatap (Bundang-gu).....North of Yatap is more like the 'real' Korea with narrow streets filled with meat restaurants, norae-bangs, cheap clothes stores, prostitutes, love hotels and even gangsters. A lot more noisy and vibrant than Bundang, but a lot of rough edges. I almost prefer north of Yatap!

I believe Pangyo is getting their own subway station in near future(?).'

The location is also very ideal: close enough to Seoul that it's easy to commute, but not actually in it (which means CHEAP Very Happy).

Whoa! The residents of Pangyo who have bought their apartment wouldn't like to hear you say that!! They're hoping to double the value of their homes over the next 3 years. The average apartment in Pangyo was sold for around 420 million last year. They're hoping for at least 800 million when they all start selling up as soon as they're allowed to. In 3 years.

Yes. There will be a subway station. Two actually. One for east Pangyo (Dong Pangyo) and one for west Pangyo (Seo Pangyo). They'll connect to Gangnam Station with only 15 minutes travel time. That's what will make Pangyo very desirable. Construction of subway is expected to take 3 years.

my main concern is i'm gonna move there and have to walk 5 miles through the snow, barefoot, uphill, both ways to get anywhere worth anything...
