Wait, wait, wait.
I can tell you that the I-phone 5 may not be worth it over the 4, depending on what they do with it. For example, the cameras might be touted as having a higher megapixel rate, but not actually be as good as the I-phone 4 (they did this with the I-pad2 already).
Apple is not stupid. They will string this out as long as possible to sell out of as many I-phone 4's as possible, then release the 5, and when people figure out it's not all that much of an improvement (in some areas) over the I-phone 4, there won't be many I-phone 4's left and cost won't be reduced much.
Also, some things in the I-phone 5 are likely to be compromised compared to the I-phone 4 so that Apple can push the I-phone 6. In other words, their goal is, and always has been, to sucker as many people into upgrades to "the next best thing." To do this, the can't give you everything you want in the next model. They have to backtrack slightly on some features/abilities.
Seriously, don't even buy the I-phone 5 until you hear several trusted reviews on what it can/can't do compared to the I-phone 4. It's been said for quite a while that the I-phone 5 will be made at a much lower cost. That can't be done without compromises. |

The iPhone 5 is not going to be a big improvement on the iPhone 4.....it won't have true 4G (LTE) tech which is the only new big thing for smartphones.....
.....in other words, unless you really want the improved camera resolution (whoop-de-doo) of the iPhone 5, then you'd be better off with a readily available Samsung Galaxy, iPhone 4, or a current HTC model. |

If that is the truth then just get the 4. My wife has it and the camera is excellent-- it blows away my Galaxy S1.
I did hear the 5 will be lighter and may be going back to the rounded shape of the ver 3.
I also think the 4G thing is a bunch of hype. Especially since it is always dependent on network speed, which is tightly controlled anyway. |

LTE 4G is expensive.
Yes, it is faster than 3G. But how many of you are seriously going to pay like $40 a month for 1GB?
Don't say the carriers are going to lower the price once more 4G phones are available. The carriers will keep the premium price for 4G, and people who want cheaper will be stuck with 3G. |

And there's usually a 2-3 month waiting list for the new apple products when they first come out.
I would just get the iphone 4...What does it not have that you need? |

If you was planning to buy a new phone some time during the next year, then it would probably be nice to wait for the iPhone 5, but it will probably be very difficult to get one any time close to the release date, and it will probably not be much different from an iPhone 4. I remember I had to wait for months after the iPhone 4 was released before I was able to get one (might have been faster if I went to the correct stores from the very beginning and didn't have to go through a lot of nonsense at my local stores). |

I heard the same. It's coming out in Oct. Also, I heard Sprint might be getting the iPhone and they told their employees they can't take any vacations in October.
Not sure if they're planning for an Oct. release. I'm hoping the iPad 3 would come out, but I doubt it.

How'd they do it with the iPad2? |

i don't agree with this eamo. apple is going to use the iphone 5 to catch up with aggressive competitors in other ways besides lte. it will have a bigger screen for sure to fight all the 4inch+ behemoths out there, and it will most likely have a dual core processor to also stay in line with the times. |

Well, we don't know what it will have because of the secretiveness of Apple....they don't want the people holding out for the new release to see the spec and risk them being disappointed and buy another phone.
But from the tech sites I've read (a lot. I'm a geek) it's pretty much certain that it won't have LTE........which really is the only big advance in smartphones in 2011.....which the competitors will have.
So the iPhone 5 might be able to match the competition in terms of screen and CPU......but it looks like it won't have the buzz feature for 2011. 4G.
But let's wait until around mid-October when all the new phones are reviewed and see what each brings to the table.
Apple might be playing the, '4G networks aren't ready yet so we're holding off until they are', card. |
