I make 10-20 calls a day with 019 and usually pay W35-40,000. I don't monitor the amount I use it, and the bill is not so bad. But my friend has a 011 phone, she talks a lot too but her bill is W120,000 a month! Why?

Try and be more vague...I'm practicing my mind reading skills.

Why is your friends cell bill higher than yours....
You both need to get an itemized statement and compared line by line. That's the ONLY way to find out why.

Are you calling 019 numbers, while she is calling non-011 numbers? There is a price difference.

Also, the fact that you're on stinky-old 019 indicates that you don't use your phone very much anyway, because it's universally known that 019 quality sucks.

Anyone who uses their phone often wouldn't stick with that, unless they aren't very bright, IMHO.

Um, how does it suck? I've been with them for 4 years through 2 phones & have no complaints. 011 I understand is the priciest of the bunch -- what are the benefits?

The one shortfall of 019 I've noticed is its tendency to cut out when I'm hiking in the mountains, but all in all I'd call that a benefit!

On my 016 phone, I'd say it's about 30,000-40,000 per month.

OK an offshoot of this, I got an 010 number from LG, it seems to work fine in places where 019 doesn't seem to work.

Whats the deal with 010 numbers? I know that its a "portable" number but I find it odd (but I am very happy) that it works quite well

Your friend's bill may include the price of the phone which is being paid in monthly installments. My bill was 120,000 last month for KTF which includes the price of the phone.

I use my phone a bit too much. If my bill in under 100,000 I am happy. It is an SK account.

I did just that back in 1998 and then filled out the paperwork to have ownership transferred to my name the next month.

Whoa!!!! What do you mean by that? What business is it of yours? If my best friend wants to help me get a phone it is our business. It is not am imposition. Why don't you say, "Anyone who imposes on a Korean he or she does not know well...."

What business is it of Derrek's what kind of phone I have? Besides, I say pull your own weight. There are plenty of teachers here that think nothing of racking up huge bills and leaving the country. If you don't have to put it in someone else's name, don't.

There is nothing wrong with relying on friends, and I have no plans to "go back home." There are advantages to having the account in the Korean's name. It is easier to get a VIP discount card for example.
