My question is simple: will 5 days in Jejudo be fun?
I like the idea of just relaxing there, doing a bit of sight-seeing, walking, hiking, biking...
I'm leaving Korea soon, and have put aside 5 days to go on a little trip. I feel like staying in Korea, because I want to enjoy the autumn, and I don't want to spend a ton of money (Japan).
Right now, my instincts are telling me to just head on over to Jejudo and stay there for 5 days, but I'm wondering if I shouldn't also tour around and see Seoraksan, maybe Gwangju, maybe DMZ...
So, what do you guys think?
-Tour around Korea, it'll be more interesting. 5 days in Jejudo is too boring.
-Go to Jejudo, it's relaxing. Touring around Korea for 5 days will make you feel nuts.
-Go to Japan. You can't take it with you...
-Go to Cebu. Take a suntan back to Edmonton. |

I just came back from 5 days in Jeju over Chuseok. I could have easily stayed longer. There are plenty of sites to fill 5-days of travelling around the island. If you get bored of travelling around you can always park it on a nice beach for the day. The water temperature will be on the cold side now. But the weather should still be great. When I was there it was 26-30 every day and sunny. At night it dropped down to about 20-22.
One thing that I would recommend is renting a car to get around to all the sites. The public bus service is a bit spotty and renting a car (if you get a good web deal) could be little as 20-30 bucks a day.
Plus, it is the off-season for Korean tourists now. You should be able to get some great deals on flights and hotels. |

Thanks. Jejudo does sound like the most appealing option for a short vacation.
I don't have an international driver's licence for a car, though-- just a normal Canadian one. Maybe I'll meet somebody and get him or her to drive me around. |

Well if you don't have an international drivers license then some places won't rent to you. If you wander right outside the terminal there are a lot of rental places that rent their cars out of a van. You can usually find a place that will rent one to you without the license. They will just photocopy your Canadian one.
Of course this is technically illegal. However, considering the light amount of traffic on the island and the complete lack of policing... you should be fine.
Not that I would advocate doing anything illegal... |
