Remember about five years ago when this topic was all the rage here on Dave's? Dunno if the Korean troupe is still doing this show, but it's gotten this British comedian some heat.

So the Wayans Brothers can make a movie where they dress and act like dumb, white bimbos--all in "white face" and nobody bats an eyes, but then a white person does blackface and it's called racist?
Typical pathetic white guilt brought on by the liberal PC agenda and media. |

The difference is performers doing blackface are part of a long tradition perpetuating racial stereotypes.

German's don't have the same history with blacks as they do in America, so why do they have to be extra sensitive?
And you didn't address my original point. Why is it ok for black comedians like the Wayans brothers to do a movie and Dave Chapelle to do numerous skits dressing in God-awful white face depicting white people in a ridiculously, offensive stereotypical fashion and it's ok?
History or not, what's offensive cuts both ways, not just one. It doesn't make it right any way you slice it--for both sides. I for one am ok with white face or black face, it's just comedy, lighten up. |

Some students in Montreal also were doing some blackface stunt.
Koreans I can forgive, since most are probably unaware of the racial taboo surrounding it. But North Americans should know better. |
OP, I don't think it's ever "just been the Koreans"
I lived in Japan before and often saw the black face routine on TV there....and of course others have posted other examples.....
The Spaniards did the black face routine for Lewis Hamilton during the Grand Prix in Barcelona.....but unlike the Japanese and Koreans the one in Spain involving the race car fans was racially motivated.....

I remember one of my adult students loved that film. White Chicks? Anyway, why get worked up about a comedy? |
