|
|
Hello,
I am interested in applying to teach in South Korea, however I am aware of the stringent policies regarding drug related details on background checks.
I am from the UK and was arrested, but NOT convicted of a drug related offence. I have a criminal background check from ACPO, the criminal records office. This details the date of arrest and also the fact that no further action was taken.
Firstly, will this mean I definitely cannot teach in Korea?
Secondly, I have noticed in a thread further down that a basic check from Disclosure Scotland is required. This is actually different to the check I have described above. I have noticed on the Discolsure Scotland website that the basic disclosure details the following; unspent convictions, spent convictions, cautions and lists checks. Does anybody know if arrests would show up on the "lists checks"?
Many thanks. |

To answer your first question, a drug related comment on your check would disqualify you without question, hesitation, recourse or appeal as a matter of policy (immigration department).
I can't answer your 2nd question.

You don't want an ACPO, you only want a disclosure from Discloure Scotland. It's the UK-wide check and indeed only shows convictions. I'm sure it wouldn't show arrests. Call them anyway, they'll be able to tell you if it does.
Problem solved if not. |
