Hey there....

After lengthy research online and on this site, I finally handed in my notice in my hagwon...I am teaching there almost four months now, but am planning to leave in 3 or so months. This is mainly to do with the fact that he said he will need up to three months to replace us (there are two of us who want to leave). Initially I was annoyed because we had given him the 30 days notice. However, I decided that in 3 months my flight will be paid and I wont owe them anything. I can also save some money for when I want to move on.
I'm well aware of the fact that this can be somewhat risky, as he could always just fire me next week before payday. However, my only other option was to do run and I just cant bring myself to do it...partly because Id be sh*tting myself while doing it and Id feel like it was a lousy move.
I dont think our boss is a complete monster, yet they have already held onto money of ours (our first paycheck) without warning, which made us a little wary of them. We have had several other problems which have added to our general dissatisfaction with the job. I decided that I dont want to spend another nine months unhappy so I bit the bullet and said I was leaving.

So to cut to the point, what I want to know is...if I seek work in another country, such as Taiwan or Thailand when my notice is completed, is it advisable to say I have six months teaching experience, but that I finished a contract early? Will this look bad even outside Korea?

Or do I just lie and pretend Im 'travelling in Asia' and am ready to start work?

I'd rather not lie but am also aware that out here in the cut throat world of teaching, that white lies are sometimes the better option.

I would like to try and get another job in Korea after my six months, but my boss pretty much said that it would not look good in immigration if I leave my first contract early. He hasnt said he will badmouth me but I dont know if I'll even get a letter of release. He would rather have me stay so I dont know if he'll give me a glowing reference for leaving.
This is why Im looking into other countries ...
any advice appreciated!!

Put your 1-term of experience on your resume.
List the employer name and city (don't necessarily give the contact info).

No-one will make an international call (in the hope that someone in your old hagwan can speak the same language that they do) to check with your old hagwan in regards to your work experience.

Hey there..

thanks for that. Will it not look bad to other employers that I didnt see the contract through, though?
