Hey. I've heard rumours about Go-Karts in Seoul somewhere, but I haven't been able to find much detailed info. I'm looking for a place to go rent/use them, not a place to watch "pros" race. Is there such a place in Seoul (or anywhere in Korea for that matter)? I'm looking to go with a friend who's never done Go-Karting, so any info would definately be appreciated. Thanks. |

I asked a similar question to a teacher at our school.
He said it was becoming more popular these days, but didn't actually know of any locations offhand.
Sorry I couldn't help, if you find anywhere can you let us know? |

1) Experience Kartland in the Parking Lot of Odusan Unification Hill
Located in the parking lot of Unification Hill in Tanhyeon-myeon, Paju City, Kartland boasts an 800-meter track and single-seated go-karts that can run up to 60 kilometers per hour. Competition go-karts can reach speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour. However, driving one of them requires a license, obtained by taking a 2-hour course in safety regulations and competition rules. Generally, the duration of the ride in single-seated or double-seated go-karts is 7 minutes, or about 10 laps around the track.
→ 7 minutes in a single-seated mini-car: 10,000 won
→ 7 minutes in a double-seated mini-car: 16,000 won
→ Competition car tuition fee: 60,000 won
I know there's a few more... just can't find the links right now cuz I'm at work, haha. |

I read this the other day and thought, shit ya.....this is going to be fucking sweet!!! Racing go-karts, high speed.....a great way to spend a beautiful afternoon!! We called ahead and spoke with the owner to make sure they were running the license class and to see if we needed reservations or the like. "Nope, just come after 12:00 and you're good to go!", he said.
Jesus....was I wrong. Traffic was bloody awful, so the 50 minute drive was really around 2 hours just to get there. We get there and some dude is like, "We haven't even started the racing kart license class yet." They didn't even have the racing karts there!! So he was trying to get ahold of the owner, to see if he was coming around to take care of us. Meanwhile, he let us have a go on the regular karts. Mine 'worked' a bit. Was slow as *beep*. I could have ran faster!! I guess that was a maybe a good thing cuz my brakes were non-existent. My girlfriends kart (all THREE of them) didn't work at all. She needed to be rescued on the 'track' (a parking lot really) 3 times as her kart just wouldn't move!!!!
She finally just gave up and walked back to the pit lane. I pulled in and gave up also. The dude didn't charge us anything. Good thing as there was no fucking way he was getting any money outa me. The owner never did show up.
What a waste of fucking time!!!! Apparently, the racing course class thing is to begin in November, but I wouldn't hold my breath. The way things went today, I don't understand how they are still open!!!! |

Is this what the race track looked like?
http://www.kartland.co.kr/info/info2.asp
When you say the karts were slow, does that mean you didn't have to brake on any turns? A previous post said they run up to 60km/hour and according to the map, you only have to use the brakes on 2 turns on the track which looks about right. If that's the case, I would still be willing to check it out personally.
Also, were other people there? What's the format? Do they just send you out and tell you to drive around? I assume they at least time you. |

Ya, I went to Kartland.....but that track doesn't look right. It definitely wasn't the same as that....The pits weren't on the corner. I'd say it was more like an 'L' shape, not the 'U' they have pictured.
All three of my girlfriends karts went about 5 km/h. I'd guess my kart was going around 45 km/h, no braking needed. There were a 3 other people there that also asked about the license class, but hadn't previously been told that they could in fact do it from the owner like we were told, so they just hopped in the regular karts. Their karts were no faster than mine, but one had James Bond style smoke screen to try and *beep* ya up. They gave a 3 minute instruction thing on how to drive the kart, then sent you free.
They didn't time us as it was utter chaos on the track with people running karts to and from my girlfriend, and in the end I just stopped. I've NEVER done that before on a go-kart track!! The unwritten rule of go-karts is when you get the signal to pull into the pits, you go for one more lap!!! But it just wasn't worth it!!!
If you are close, give it a go......but don't expect much!!! All the karts need a good tune-up and some general care. I was very disappointed!!! A 2 hour drive for 5 minutes in a shitty kart. |

Thanks for the report. You saved me a long trip out to Paju.
I did some searching on Naver and found this place:
http://www.jskart.net/track.htm
It's in Jamsil between COEX and sports complex. 15,000 won for 10 minutes.
If you have a group of 8, you can get a rate of 330,000 won for 30 minutes or 550,000 won for an hour. I wonder if they set up something where there is running for pole position and then an actual race with a staggered start.
I've seen this place before but I always thought it was a test course to get your drivers license. |

Hey victorology,
Did you ever go to the track in Jamsil in the end, is it good?
Does anyone know the prices of the Jamsil course or any other better ones around Seoul?
Thanks |
