I have an iPhone4 version 4.3.3 (8J2) purchased in the United States. I can't for the life of me figure out how to unlock it. If it is locked I can't use it in Korea. And I don't know of a place that can unlock it. Do you want to unlock it for me, or direct me to someone who can?
Many thanks. |

is there a difference between jailbreaking and unlocking? for the longest time, and I know friend here who have this same problem, having an iPhone from the US means you can only use it with wi-fi and nothing else, even if it was jailbroken. unlocking means you can use iPhones here? |

Will a Gevey Sim work with 4.3.3 firmware? Im keeping my jailbroken one on 4.2.1 so when I leave Korea I can just use a Gevey Sim. |

Just do some searches, there is no unlock tool available for firmware 4.3.3 now.
the easiest way is to use Gevey Sim.
But even you can unlock the US Iphone, you cannot use it in Korea immediately, there are some complicated procedures to make it works. First you need to get Korea Communications Commission Certificate (from http://www.ekcc.go.kr), then register to a network KT or SK. |

sorry moh, but this is all wrong.
it IS unlockable and you DONT need to get a communications commission certificate. that was last year. you are now able to register non-korean devices on a korean network--- no more whitelisting.

if youre serious about paying someone to do it, let me know. |

That's good news that we don't need any certificate for non-Korean devices.
But for unlocking Iphone 4 on firmware 4.3.3 is not wrong. A locked iphone 4 with firmware 4.3.3 meaning that it has baseband 4.10.01 which is unable to unlock up to now.
Your link is for the Iphone 4 is on firmware 4.3.3 (upgraded from previous firmware using PwnageTool) but with preserved basebands: 01.59.00 / 04.26.08 / 05.11.07 / 05.12.01 / 05.13.04 / 06.15.00 |

both tedee and moh are sort of right in their own respect. Yes you need to register it with your respective carrier, and after that you CAN unlock it with gevey sim. Don't buy an ebay one, but a $30 dollar one from applenberry for$35 after shipping.
currently using the dreaded 4.3.5 registered under Olleh with Gevey Ultra. Everything works even 3g except I don't get free Olleh wifi (this gets tricky, yet to be figured out) also i have to save my contact with +82 for the contact to show up. I ve bought 2 ebay gevey sims. One pooped and the other works fine, and I recently bought the offical ultra (the latest one) from applenberry - which worked without any hiccups. You can get lucky with an ebay one, but don't chance it and just buy the offical gevey. |

As far as the KCC certificate is concerned,
- if your phone model is available in Korea (e.g., iphone 4), you don't need to register for a KCC cert;
- if your phone model is not commercially available in Korea (e.g., Xperia Play) nor nobody registered it before, you have to do it.
One person can register for at most one device.
