Hi,
I do work for a Wonderland school but have not heard aanything of the one you have an offer for. There are so many negative things written about Wonderland out there and I'm sure it won't be long before everybody shouts "Dont do it", even if they have had no dealings with them, which just goes to further fuel the negativity.
Personally I have worked at a Wonderland school for the last 9 months and have enjoyed it. This is my 2nd hagwon job in Korea and by far beats the last one. All I can say is speak with a foreigner who works there, ask questions and find out as much as you can. Just like any job you go for over here. Ask to see pictures of the apartment if you can. Double/triple check the contract and make sure you cover your bases. If there is somthing you don't understand, get it clarified and put in plain English everyone understands on the contract. This is general advice and not exclusive to Wonderland. Many people sign a contract come here and dont like something, while their only defence is "they should have made it clearer in the contract". 2 people are needed to make a contract so make sure you understand and are happy with everything in there.
I have had absolutely no problems working for Wonderland and am staying a second year at the school. We work hard but if your coming here to seriously teach and not looking for a "paid vacation" then that is what should be expected from anybody I guess. Hope even if you don't accept the job this helps. Good luck |

Aye.
Wonderland = Land of the Undead.
They eat your brains in wonderland they do.
That's what I heard from broonie30 anyhow. |

I'm sure not all Wonderlands are bad, but if someone has an experience at a franchise outlet that is so horrific, they write a bloody book about it: Don't you think it's fair to boycott that franchise and let them drown? |

No. Just like any franchise, the individual schools are run by different people. If that person is good, the school could be good. If the owner isn't so good, not a fun place to work.
And to be fair, that "book" was written how many years ago? Also, it was so poorly written I couldn't even finish it.
OP, I've worked at 2 Wonderlands and they were both good. Not the best, but good. It all depends on the boss. Talk to current teachers and past teachers. Ignore people on this board unless they have personal experience. The experience of a friend of a friend of a poster that may have heard it through the grapevine before posting it again as the absolute truth is a waste of time. |

I have only a few quick things to add.
1)READ the contract carefully. Most newbies look at one and are so overwhelmed that they either dash or just sign and hope for the best.
A) HOW many classes - NOT how many class hours. 30 class hours can mean anything from 30 - 45 classes per WEEK.
b) WHEN and HOW are the holidays taken. This is another big bone of contention with many of them.
c) Airfare and payback if you fail to complete the year.
d) housing.
you get the picture. |

I'm gonna have to bump this one.
I just accepted an offer from this school, and would like to know if anyone has heard anything or has any advice about this location?
So far, everyone seems very friendly towards me regarding any questions I have etc. The assistant director is also very kind, but still looking for other information on what to expect... Did the OP take the job or not? |

Of course they're friendly. They're probably still in shock that there's still people signing up for Wonderland, CDI, or BR. |

I mean, I think it all depends on location man. I haven't been able to find anything bad about this one in specific. |

How about this? They've voluntarily affiliated themselves with the worst-reputed hagweon chain in the country. |

Let the OP be. If a newbie can survive Wonderland then he or she will be able to meet any challenge in Korea. The experience will toughen them up or weed them out. |
