Apparently he Korean postal service will no longer ship a notebook computer to another location in Korea? My wife is looking into other options, but just a heads-up in case you hadn't heard. Any suggestions?

If you are sending it in for service or repair ask the company you are sending it to.

In China we could ship stuff by train, not using the post office. I've had several suitcases go this way, no minimum.

Don't know if they can do that here, but possibly.

Shockingly, we couldn't even find a Taek-bay service that would take a computer for shipment in Korea! They said they will ship for businesses selling them, because they are well-packed, but even then, they DO NOT insure them. Pretty amazing.

They all said they've had too many lawsuits/problems over claims from broken computers.

I'm not at all surprised. We've sent a used Microwave by quick-service (Taek-bay), as well as a coffee pot. Both were broken.

Was yours new or used? There are services my wife found that ship new ones for businesses, but not individuals. And still no insurance, even for businesses. Amazing. Speaks volumes to the amount of care they give your packages that they're afraid to ship via their services.

It wouldn't surprise me if rules have changed in the past year.

Ok, yah mine was used. strange, cause I think they could pack it securely enough that a fair amount of jostling wouldn't bust it.

I've had friends do this. You can pay the Terminal bus to take the item on the bus and somebody pick it up at the arriving terminal. Only problem is you have to be there when the bus arrives.

Well, I got bored yesterday and picked up a new HDD for 45,000. Stuck that in there and changed to Windows 7 Enterprise in English. Thought I'd see if the HDD was the only problem with it. Going to run it for a week and see if it's fixed.
