Just a word of warning to everyone out there. I spotted a ranch dressing made by Ottogi in Emart yesterday. I was intrigued since I had never seen a Korean-made ranch dressing in 7 years in Korea. It looks like this

Against my better judgment I decided to buy one. Words cannot describe how strange/bad this stuff tastes. It's like a mixture of processed cheese and toxic waste. Certainly nothing like the ranch dressing I knew back home. I don't think the person who made this has ever tasted ranch dressing before. They must have just picked a name that was popular and slapped it on whatever crap they had lying around their factory.
Consider yourself warned.
The Homeplus near me used to carry a Wishbone brand ranch dressing imported from America. It was fine, even if a bit expensive. But for some reason it disappeared earlier this year. I assume Costco must have the stuff but I've never been there. |

Thanks for the recipe, but things like sour cream, buttermilk, fresh parsley and dill aren't exactly easy to get around here either. |

I got a little excited reading the first part of the title: new Ottogi Ranch Dressing. |

Buttermilk can be substituted by adding something like a tablespoon of lemon juice per cup of milk (pref. the really fatty one. mmm) and fresh parsley's in abundance in the super marts (though a bit expensive, unless you find it on sale.)
dill and sour cream....yeah. no clue there. |

Emart sells tubs of sour cream, can't comment on the price as my girlfriend bought it. |

You can use nicemarket.net for fresh dill. I use a little bit, then blanch and freeze the rest. |
