Hi there,

So I'm still in the job market, after having spoken with a few different recruiters. This is mainly because every time I have looked into a prospective job from a recruiter by searching both at this forum and elsewhere online (including speaking with friends currently in Korea), I have come across either overwhelmingly negative feedback, or little to no information at all. I am wondering: would it be wise (or unwise, or even worth it at all) to discuss any of this feedback with the pertinent recruiter? I'm currently waiting to start a skype interview about a prospective job, and as I'm sitting here at my computer I'm trying to do a bit of checking up on the place. I found only one relevant thread here, but the information contained within that thread sounded rather dire. I'm just curious to know anyone else's two cents about a situation like this. Thank you!

Talking to a recruiter about your concerns is at best pointless and at worst detrimental to your job search. At best, a recruiter will lie to you and tell you the complaints are due to a few disgruntled individuals. At worst, they might think you're difficult to work with and bail on you. It's worth talking to them about issues specific to the contract, as some schools are willing to negotiate on that front, but bringing up complaints about the specific school isn't likely to get you anywhere. If it's something like a Wonderland or a CDI and the complaints are endless, you should probably just avoid the school entirely.

A lot of schools are nowhere to be found on the internet. I searched my old hagwon many times but since it was fairly new and small, there were no comments, positive or negative. But it ended up an average (if not slightly below average) gig. If you find negative comments, I would address them with the current teachers, not the recruiters. It's the recruiters' business to alleviate concerns without actually doing anything.

Someone should create some kind of yelp for schools in Korea.
