I'm thinking of turning in my 30 day notice.

This is my 2nd year with SMOE. 1 6-month contract, 1 year contract, and 1/2 way through my 2nd 1 year contract.

What happens (monetarily) if I leave at the start of Winter Break or earlier?

I don't get the exit allowance. Of course. (Which is my airfare money, right?)

But, what about severance? As I understand it, since I completed more than 1 year with the same company, under the Labor Law, I should get severance equal to 1 month's pay for every year + of service. I forget what the formula is. Does someone know it?

Is there anything else?

That's right you wouldn't get the exit allowance (flight money), but you would be entitled to the severance allowance.
Severance is your monthly pay times the number of years you were with SMOE.
If you choose to quit, you can always to Cleveland, Ohio. I hear its a great place to be born and raise a family.

Not from Cleveland and already have a family - which is one big reason why I am thinking about going home a little early. I was only supposed to be here 1 year to help my wife's family - while she remained at work in the US - but I smashed up my hip and had to wait to have a 2nd operation. Now that it is done, I'd like to get home, especially during the holidays when we also have our wedding anniversary...

No need to worry. Explain your situation to your co-workers and if you have been on good terms with them, they may send you off with well wishes.
