There's another thread about Nagwon arcade that hints that it could be going out of business in a year. Can anyone actually confirm that?

If so...good riddance. I absolutely can not stand going there. The brass/woodwind store owners also don't let you try anything, and in my most recent jaunt over there, there's no one who can repair Akai keyboards. Going to a completely average music store in Fukuoka was like night and day.

I was interested in that point too.

My experiences with not being allowed to try out expensive guitars before I paid cash for them is well documented on the other thread.

I agree good riddance if it is closing! Hopefully something resembling a professional music store (with decent stock levels) will rise in its place and we won't be left looking for instruments on G Market.

The gloomy grey building with small shops all selling the same budget crap is not an enjoyable way to shop for instruments IMHO.

In saying that, there is a very good amp doctor I am happy to go to, and a couple of decent shops with welcoming staff at Nagwon. The rest of them can go hang.

I remember it as being much better. They had decent instruments for sale, there were some cool specialist shops, and there was a better vibe overall. You had a choice of stores.

It's a bit grubby these days. The addition of the cafe has done nothing to improve it.

Some guys there are nice and it may have been good once but it seems pretty dodgy now.
Old, dusty, damaged stuff that's been sitting there for years for outrageous prices. And good luck getting anything fixed properly there.
Bought an instrument from there and it died after an hour of use, so I took it back for repair. Went back to pick it up two weeks later and the man said "no problem" in Korean. Took it home, same problem. He didn't run any diagnostics, just switched it on, played a few notes and put it away again.
I took it to another guy there and he said: "Why don't you just use software plugins? Everybody does that nowadays." Duuh. I know. But I bought this here and I need it repaired, not a lecture on consumer choices. Awesome service.

Haha. I went there tonight to see if the ONE keyboard store servicing Akai had gotten parts in yet. They hadn't. While walking around I saw an old marching euphonium in a window.

Me: "How much is that marching euphonium?"
Guy 1: doesn't even know, asks guy two
Guy 2: "It's not for sale"
Me: "So why is it in the window if you don't sell it?"
Guy 2: because the quality is low"
Me: "I know it's used, I just want a practice horn, why isn't that for sale if it's in the window?"
Guy 2: "Because then I'd have to replace it by buying a brand new one"

This. This is why that place is the fail-iest place on f**king Earth. They are f**king retarded. Anything they don't immediately have is just ordered from a catalogue with Chinese instruments. Place is fail.
