I've turned in a FBI background check for my EPIK job. It's my understanding that if I don't change schools that background check is good for a given amount of time. Is this true? If so does anyone know how long?
If I do switch jobs will I need to supply another background check?
Thanks for your time and help on this, any information is appreciated. |
Transfers = good for 10 years.
New visa = may need new documents (case specific).

Thanks.
I've never done a transfer. I assume its as easy as some paper work before your current visa expires? Do I need a letter from my old job or just my current contract with ending date? |
If you are still under contract you need a LOR.
If your contract is about to (within 7 days) or has expired then:
passport
ARC
new contract
application
fees (60k for the transfer and 30k for the extension of stay)
(copy of) new employer's business registration
new employers guarantee (sponsorship form).

So my question is twofold.
Firstly has anyone had this issue where the central education office is looking for a copy of the background check not bothering to check with immigration first? Again I assumed that turning it into immigration was the proper course of action.
And second, @ttompatz If my FBI check is on file(immigration) and my contract ends and I get rehired someplace else with time left on my visa I should simply be able to do a transfer? When I renewed my public school contract last time immigration extended my visa a month past my last day on the contract. I think this has something to do with the new rules.
Thanks for any help on this. |
1) yes, happens all the time - the left hand (ed office) not talking to the right (Kimmi).
2) yes.
