As a frequent user of taxis I have never seen a taxi driver be required to provide a breath sample at a drunk driving check point.

I saw the news segment on TV. The showed cops going around during the day doing the breathalyzer test on a group of taxi drivers. They're saying the cops are "cracking down." It seems like there's a crackdown or something every few weeks or so. What a farce to show the public that they're acting like they're doing something about it.

I got into a taxi once and the guy had an open bottle of soju in the cup holder. Needless to say that was a very interesting taxi ride.

At least they don't have guns in the car, but I do remember that rapes of female passengers by taxi drivers was not an uncommon problem in Korea back in the 1990s.

I was in a taxi last year with my K friend and his wife (a police officer) - the taxi driver was off his face and swerving in the road.

That was before he racially abused me:D (The only time it has ever happened to me in Korea btw).

I was kind of waiting for his wife to call back up ect and have the guy arrested - well ermmmmmmmmmmmmm no.

We just got out at the place we were going to eat at, I smiled and gave the taxi driver a cheerful good bye to try and piss him off, at that point he just pulled out without indicating, almost causing a 4 car pileup.

His wife just looked embarrassed - we had a nice evening after that!

LOL at the naive people who think delivery and taxi drivers aren't usually blitzed out of their skulls.

I knew people who drove cab back home...They were always stoned/drunk/doped

Same with people who did delivery....

I'm sure its the same here.

What, you think people driving semis cross-country getting stuff from one end to the other in however many hours are doing it clean and sober?

check points are a joke here. do you know what they do? they take a plastic cup, make u breathe in it, and the police officer smells the cup.

What city do you live in? In Seoul, you blow into a box that can detect alcohol. If you set it off, then you get a real breathalyzer to determine your BAC.
