What would you include in a package like this?
obviously the cover letter would be customised to the specific uni/college
please PM me if you have a sec to chat and you work at a uni/college
Thanks in advance |

Before pming...
To have any shot a such a job you need to have a MA in hand and preferably be applying from Korea (that is be IN Korea so you can attent IN PERSON interviews).
Missing either of these conditions will drastically dimish your chances of landing interviews or jobs.
To have a decent shot at a University position, you will also need to have some experience as an ESL-TESL Teacher in an adult setting, strong references.
The hiring season starts in November-December. |

Thanks for the info.
Any ideas about what i should include in a cold application?
Thanks |

I posted a similar question in another thread further down the page so would also be interested in getting some feedback on this matter. |

I'm pretty sure you don't want to hear it, but to reinforce what the others are saying, you NEED some kind of MA if you want a Uni position. Really you need an MA related to Education, TESOL, English or something close, but an unrelated MA MIGHT do the trick if you aren't picky about the location and 'lifestyle', have some decent contacts as you say and are lucky.
Hell, I'm in Korea now and have very solid Adult experience [1.5 years] with a topnotch institution in the States, and I have a big chunk of a Master's finished already, and I couldn't get any kind of Uni slot at all. Now maybe I'm just chopped liver and you can show me how it's done, or maybe you need to understand that the days of getting Uni jobs with BAs and loose talk about 'looking at starting my MA next year via distance learning' are over and they aren't coming back.
Get the Master's or be satisfied with adult hagwons. |

A solid CV
A well put together Cover Letter
Some examples of your teaching portfolio
Letters of references or at least solid references, preferably one or two academic references.
If you are without a MA however you should not waste your time on the better positions and should put most of your energy on smaller Universities outside of the major centers or regional colleges.
Frankly speaking, the bulk of applicants for university positions for the past few years have MAs in hand, at least at the insitutions I have contacts with.
Good luck! |

I hate to say it, but being attractive doesnt hurt. I know people with BAs that got an interview and job because they were pretty. So it goes. |

I am willing to bet that these "pretty" applicants had more than just a BA (ex: significant experience) or had networked and got jobs through referals or accepted jobs at unigwons or smaller rural colleges. |
