Paul Van Dyk? Are you out of your tiny mind?

I'd rather gouge my eyes out with a rusty spoon than pay to listen to that screaming German hermaphrodite play nauseating and insipid Euro$hite for half the night.

Do yourself a favour, go and have a glass of milk.

I heard his last gig up in Seoul was one of the best ever.
It could be worth it for sure...

i'd like to go.

but the ticket price is obscene.

i've seen him mix in some of the best, purpose built, clubs in the world, on the best sound systems in the world for far far less.

i will not pay 60-70k to see him play in an auditorium with sub-standard sound, surrounded by people who don't know how to dance.

so in the immortal words of every student i teach......pass.

My sentiments exactly...

i have seen Tiesto and johan Gielen at gayagum hall and both times the venue was absolutely craphouse....

problems are these...
1. Too much light...there is light steaming in from the back. shithouse.....

2. people have no idea....it is full of korean posers who are NOT there to dance and basically get in the way and drink crappy majorly overpriced drinks that there is not enough of anyway.

3. there is not enough water and what water they do have is about 5000 won a bottle.

4. No drugs plus nobody else is on any drug but alcohol leaving a bit of a crappy crowd for a trance set . Being this is in korea i can accept that if the venue was good, as drugs are not needed if the DJ is special but this isn't the case. With this comment I am not advocating taking drugs at all...

5. there is only a tiny cool off zone that is flooded with light and is frigging not cool at all....

6. the actual place is shit for a rave. Not enough space.... it does have a semi-decent light show however.

I love paul van Dyk...castles in the sky is a classic but fucked if i am ever going there again. seoul actually does have some good spots with some funky crowds but that isn't one of them. the majority of people are going are people who are going just to be seen there as they think it is trendy...bleh

In my earlier years here the big acts used to play at more intimate places...triport hall was one if i remember rightly which was much better..

gayagum hall is just shitty plain and simple...I need to be paid.

After living in Tokyo and europe and seeing the same acts and how good the set ups are here and then the best Seoul(which apparently is a world city) which Seoul has to offer is the sheraton...that just plain sucks.

triport was a great venue...

price is not cheap... but then again clubs do not have to pay rental fees... and sponsorship is also a key factor to putting on a show of this magnitude...

just wanted all to be aware that he will be in town...

Sheraton/W parties are more concerts than club parties... but atleast they have a bar that does not shutdown at 2am...

there are loads of deejays slated to come to korea... so if this is not your cup of green tea than sit tight cause lots of acts will follow...

three large clubs are slated to open in the next two months and hopefully that will offer some better cover prices and drinks...

spoke to PVD last Wednesday and he is stoaked to play Gayagum... checkout GrooveMagazine for an upcoming interview...

p.s VIP tables and hotel rooms are SOLD OUT

70.000??? OUCH.. he must be asking big money these days..

tiesto was asking 50 wasnt he,, man those dutch!

the morillo party will be hard to be for the year! if you missed Morillo you missed the best party of the year by far!!! MAN DID HE ROCK!!!!

and you know how to dance?

Funny I used to be in that scene. I've scene them all. Dyk, Oakenfold, tiesto, etc... Trance, D&B, Jungle, House, etc... Usually there are nothing but posers every where even in U.S.. It takes practice and creativity how to dance. It's only handful of people who actually know how to dance in any establishment.

Of course there's drugs in Korea. You just talking to the wrong people. It's down low because punishment is harsh in Korea. Being a foreigner doesn't help either.

wasn't that a cheesy pop trance song by Ian Van Dahl?

Anyway, 70000 is very steep. I paid a little less than that to see him AND Tiesto at Amnesia in Ibiza.

Haven't been to anything like that since about 2000. But i remember back in the day it used to be about half that to see him at Gatecrasher in Sheffield, which was one of the biggest club nights in the UK at the time.

The ticket price is high. I did see him in the states about 10 years ago and he was pretty good. That said, I haven't listened to him recently. Damn, I had to flip open the calendar -- it has been ten years.

Guns and Roses are coming to Japan in July. I'm set on going.

People will blow 60Kwon on drinks going out to some crappy Itaewon whole to look at a bunch of skanks.. but when someone of quality comes to town, people scoff at the ticket price?

Have you checked prices for other concerts? I wonder how much Rolling Stones tickets would be in Korea.. 300K, 400K? What about Beyonce? 50-100K? PVD certainly isn't the Rolling Stones, but then again, the Rolling Stones aren't even the Rolling Stones anymore!

PVD is the number one ranked dance producer in the world. And for those thinking "Castles in the Sky" is the standard of songs to expect, you obviously don't know much about which you are talking.. First, that's not a PVD song, secondly that came out in 2001. A lot has changed since those days.

Go to the show. Support the scene. Have fun!

It's a supply and demand thing.

You obviously don't know anything about what PVD does live.

Last time I saw him in Chicago he didn't touch vinyl. Just CDs and computer playlists. I was a bit disappointed. I'm still going for this one, though Wink ...
