I just received my FBI CRC and informed my recruiter I was planning on getting it apostilled at the CA Secretary of State. However, he told me that SMOE (I'm assuming) changed their policy and now requires all Seoul applicants to get the federal apostille. Has anyone heard about this?

Thanks in advance!
Aaron

My friend just submitted the state apostille and everything went through, like recently. Korean immigration makes the rules, not recruiters.

It all comes down to the individual agent you work with at the Immigration office. We've heard of people being denied because they didn't have the federal apostille from the Department of State.

In my opinion, you're better off being safe than sorry.

Thanks for the responses! I'm only trying to avoid it because it will take another 2 months to get the apostille via mail and I don't have the money to use services such as Apostille Pros. =( Wish me luck I guess haha

There are cheaper apostille services out there, at least two charge under $50 (not including postage). I haven't used them myself, though.

You can also consider time vs money if you only trust Apostille Pros (but be careful b/c they get their apostilles from the State of California by default). How much will it cost you to sit around two extra months without a job?
