I've found tickets to Spain for under $900 per person in late Feb and I'm gonna pull the trigger. My wife has been to Spain before in 2007 for 2 weeks.

Gonna try to do about 8-10 days.

Anyone got any experience? We don't care about night life, clubs, etc...

I've been a few times. You don't have a lot of time, but I can tell you what I'd do if I was in your shoes: Take a train to France (joking, that's just me).

Again, if I was in your position, I'd try to line up a way to fly into Madrid and out of Barcelona, or the other way around, then do somewhat of a thin loop down and back up the country. But if I was flying in and out of Madrid, I'd spend two days, soak in the city, see the Prado, then take a night train down to Granada. The night train won't be that bad if you're willing to pay for a sleeper. Granada, and especially, the Alhambra, are not things worth missing if you go to Spain, IMO. The Alhambra/Granada is incredible. I don't know if Seville would be worth it in that time frame, but whatever. Depending on the weather, I might jump to Malaga for a day or two, then catch a train to Barcelona for a solid three or four days (staying on La Rambla, relaxing at cafes, taking slow walks, etc.). And head back to Madrid before the flight back. I'd rotate the plan if my in and out city was Barcelona.

Of course, it sucks to get off a long ass plane ride then get on a long ass train ride, but you have to if you want to see the south and some warmer weather. There are other nice cities that will keep you a bit closer to Mad. or Barc., like Bilbao and Valencia, so it's hard to go wrong. I could also spend 8-10 days in Barcelona and be satisfied; actually, I have and I was. Tiene un buen viaje.

I haven't been since 2001 but my favorites in Spain were Barcelona, Granada, and San Sebastian. Another good random place I went to was Ronda. Little town on some insanely steep cliffs. It really depends on how much city time you would want to do. If not much....I would just stick with Barcelona and hit some smaller places. Granada should definitely not be missed. The Alhambra is a must see! Obviously if you can fly in barca, out madrid would be ideal....but if you have to pick one I would definitely go for barca.

Thanks for the help but I've been reading that it rains alot in Jan-Feb. So I'm rethinking now.

Andalucia is the bomb baby if you don't care about the nightlife and beaches (though they have those too.)

lol - don't be put off by the rain - it's nothing like rainy season here.

Stick to Andalucia region, and it's not too cold or wet, and there are plenty of gorgeous sites to see - cover the circuit of Seville, Cordoba, Ronda, Gibraltar, Granada

As for prices, everything skyrocketed since the Euro got introduced. The cheapest prices (Jan-Feb is low season) for a very basic hotel room is about 30 Euros.
