I just recieved my notice of appointment with the contract by post but what is the next stage. It is all signed and stamped.
I know this sounds silly but the school that I applied for did not exactly specify what I should do next.
I assume I need to take this to the Korean Embassy in London?
What additional documents do I have to take with me. Do I have to book an appointment or can I just walk in. I live in London by the way, there is no problem going in person. |

Yes, you have to take it to the embassy along with your visa application form. It's essentially the last step to getting your work visa from the Korean government. Check the embassy website to make sure that you have all the paperwork required, and then head over. My consulate didn't require an appointment but I'd double-check on your respective website just in case they have specific visa processing hours.

Thanks Oldtactic,
Can anyone confirm what I exactly need to do in this case.
1. A valid passport
2. A completed visa application(Click to download)
3. A recent passport photo(3.5x4.5cm colour)
4. Fee (Payable to : the Korean Embassy only either by cash or by postal order. Personal Cheques or Scottish pounds are not acceptable.)
I am planning to do this in person. At the moment the Embassy is closed, tried phoning them.
I am in kind of a rush to get everything sorted in good time. I need to be in Korea by 13th of october. |

Yes those are the docs you need. However you have absolutely zero chance of getting to Korea by the 13th. Visa processing takes 5 working days (not more, not less), so even if your docs arrived in London tomorrow morning before 9AM, they would be ready for collection in person 5 working days later, the 12th. Unless you manage to get a flight on the SAME day, (which presumes your visa issuance had no problems) then you can't be in Korea by the 13th. |

I still have all my original documents (apostille) with me. Basicly the school wants me there urgently so they asked my to send photocopies of all my documents to them by email, which I did. Now they sent me the Notice of Appointment together with the EPIK contract via mail.
I wasn't given any details as to do what with it.
I've now contacted the recruiter and was told I need to take the following in addition to the aforementioned documents:
1. A valid passport and a photocopy.
2. A completed visa application
3. A recent passport photo(3.5x4.5cm colour)
4. Fee (Payable to : the Korean Embassy only either by cash or by postal order. Personal Cheques or Scottish pounds are not acceptable.)
5. general consul checklist.
6. Police Records Search Certificate
7. Sealed University Transcript.
Has anyone gone through EPIK application as so and applied directly.
I am going to give the Embassy a call in the morning to check everything, the contract just came through today and it was too late to call them.
Thanks Setaro, I am not booking my flight until everything is sorted. I am expressing a desire to be there by then. Strangely my contract starts on that date. I haven't a clue how I would make it by then.

If it's an EPIK contract it should state that if you can't start work by the date stipulated, then a new contract will be drawn up. Try contacting your recruiter, my friend was in a similar situation, the school wanted him to start by the 15th, but seeing as he won't receive the NOA before Friday, there was no way he could be in Korea for then.
So they just changed the starting date to the first of November. |

Thanks Setaro again. I will contact my recruiter again but don't know how helpful that would be.
Here is my update on my Visa application.
I called the Korean Embassy at 9:30am. It goes to a automatic service wher it tell's you to call back at 10-12. I called back again at 10am exactly, I lady answered the phone. I asked her to confirm all the documents that I would be needing for the Visa Application(the website is a bit confusing). She told me they don't give out information concerning visa application over the phone. Strange!. Ok I asked her what if I come in person, she said that would be fine.
At 20 past the hour I make my way, I arrived at the Korean embassy around 11:20am. I get in line. They call the next person, soon as I get to him, he says where's the tcket. "What ticket?" He points to the machine. Bimey!.
I press the the screen with the Visa option. Nothing happens. He shouts again. Please press and hold. Okey dokey. I go back to him. Then he tells me to wait in the que until my number gets called. I think he was pretty annoyed.
Thankfully by the time I got called the guy was replaced by a wonderful Korean women. She was very curteous and polite.
I hand in my documents and tell her to have a check and see if everthing is in order. She prompt, I handed 80 quid. She gave me a ticket and told me to come in next tuesday for collection, I asked for a reciept for the 80 I just gave her, which she was happy to provide.
Great customer service.
By the way I chick got told off by the staffs for using her mobile to make a call. They did have a sign asking to switch of phones. She was filling out the Visa app and needed some info.
Anyway it seems the only thing you need is,
1. Either you Visa Issuence number or Notice of appointment and Contract (EPIK only)-
2. Completed Visa form with a passport size photo attached.
3. Completed Consul Check list.
4. Fee of 80.
and nothing else.
Recruiter gave me outdated info.
I am going to wait until I get everythng back before I purchase anything. |

Really? You can't expedite visas in London? I usually expedite my things for a small fee. |
