Have any of you noticed this before? It's uncanny!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t-gK-9EIq4&ob=av2e

The handshake
Seals the contract
From the contract
There's no turning back
The turning point
Of a career
In Korea, being insincere
The holiday
Was fun packed
The contract
Still intact

The grabbing hands
Grab all they can
All for themselves
After all

It's a competitive world
Everything counts in large amounts

The graph
On the wall
Tells the story
Of it all
Picture it now
See just how
The lies and deceit
Gained a little more power
Confidence
Taken in
By a sun tan
And a grin

The grabbing hands
Grab all they can
All for themselves
After all

haha like it

I think People Are People was also meant to document the frustrations of an ESL teacher facing racism in Korea..

Quote:
People are people
So why should it be
You and I should get
Along so awfully
People are people
So why should it be
You and I should get
Along so awfully

So we're different colours
And we're different creeds
And different people have different needs
It's obvious you hate me
Though I've done nothing wrong
I've never ever met you so what could I have done

I can't understand
What makes a man
Hate another man

Help me understand

People are people...

Help me understand
Help me understand

Now you're punching
And you're kicking
And you're shouting at me
I'm relying on your common decency
So far it hasn't surfaced
But I'm sure it exists
It just takes a while to travel
From your head to your fists

I can't understand
What makes a man
Hate another man
Help me understand

and while we're at it blasphemous Rumours was clearly a critique of the pressures on Korean high schoolers and the exploitative nature of Korean Christianity...

Quote:
Girl of 16
Whole life ahead of her
Slashed her wrists
Bored with life
Didn't succeed
Thank the lord
For small mercies

Fighting back the tears
Mother reads the note again
16 candles burn in her mind
She takes the blame
It's always the same
She goes down on her knees
And prays

I don't want to start
Any blasphemous rumours
But I think that God's
Got a sick sense of humour
And when I die
I expect to find Him laughing

Girl of 18
Fell in love with everything
Found new life
In Jesus Christ
Hit by a car
Ended up
On a life support machine

Summer's day
As she passed away
Birds were singing
In the summer sky
Then came the rain
And once again
A tear fell
From her mother's eye

This was written back in 1983 and Korea rhymes with career. I am not sure why they chose Korea. Perhaps, because it simply rhymes with Korea in British English. I can see it in a sense relating to Korea, but not only Korea, the modern world. It applies to the US, but the contract part is definitely more of something that applies to Korea than say the U.S. Contracts, we're told too often, are just a suggestion. I don't mean to say that to insult Korea. All of us are hurt by corruption in various forms all over the world.
