I would wait. I think a large part of the success if the Ipad is due to the touch sensitive screen. If they cant duplicate that sensitivity then they will not have any long term success. Instantly anyone who touches Samsucks pad can tell it is second rate just be the lack of touch response.
Also, it will have to surf well and play Flash. |

I would be all over one if it offered Whispernet.
I might pick up one anyway though as the price is ok and I dont need a tech heavy device.
I havent gotten a chance to read a lot about it yet but this tablet looks rather closed, as in maybe you'll have to get all of your content from Amazon.
I'm sure it will be rooted soon enough though.
Barnes and Noble is expected to release an update to their Nook Color line too. If it even offers a little more (camera, microphone) for similar price (no way the Nook Color 2 will cost more than its closest true competitor) then I would think it would have a leg up. |

| Tabs and ereaders are still in their infancy. Tough competition is making the market explode though and in a year or 2 I think they will be reasonably priced and more complete. Just look at the difference between the IPhone 3 to the IPhone 4. |

Sweet... does it blow in your ear, too? Does it also have a port for.... nevermind. |

the kindle fire would be nice for someone in the us for the price point, but in korea it makes no sense. it doesn't have whispernet or any 3g capabilities which uses cell signals to connect to amazon's network no matter where you are as long as there is a gsm signal. it does have wi-fi which makes region issues a reality. the kindle fire was designed to be a cloud-based device, meaning amazon wants you to store and access all of your information on their ec2 cloud servers.
which leads me to the next big problem. only 8gb of built in memory and no sd card slot or way to expand it. if you have a very small music collection or only play angry birds then it's a great choice. if you want to watch movies on it then it doesn't make sense. if you want to read e-books on it, it also doesn't make sense because they have a much better dedicated e-reader with whispernet access.
so all in all, this generation for people living in rok is not a wise choice in my opinion. if you are even considering getting this to use as a tablet and not as an extension of your amazon life, then do not do it. buy the nook color, root it to a stock version of android which there are numerous easy to follow tutorials on how to do this, and go forth and prosper. |

I agree with the previous poster
I was about to preorder one until I realized that all the benefits of this device are for the US only...even Canada misses out on the free delivery/cool services it offers for a cheap annual price.
the price tag is great (I think all tabs should be 200-300$, they're not worth more tbh) and the specs are good too
the 8gb memory can be complemented by the cool free online storage that they offer to Amazon Prime members, so it does make sense to only buy this in America because then it will be just as good as any other tab (free movies/tv shows, lots of music, biggest book collection and good selection of Droid apps).
my only beef with it is: 7 inch screen and 8hour battery life, which is like 100 times less than the older Kindle devices.
as of now tohugh, I'm still quite satisfied with my galaxy s 1 phone and it provides enough touchy feely features that I may never get a tab.
but if i were to pick one and was in the US, I would definitely go for Kindle Fire as it sounds like a great deal |

I will also wait for actual experiences that compare.
For 200 dollars a tablet, we might actually get a paperless world. |

Those are pretty fair arguments against it. |

what do you mean by the "nook color"? I would like a kindle-type thing and was looking at the kindle fire.. but if you have a smarter idea then I'd like to know.. |
